The impact of artificial Intelligence in CBRN Security

Dear colleagues,

We are proud to share with you a great news, we have been invited to organize a side event at the Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction that will take place at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation the 27th - 29th of November 2024 in the aim of the activities of the G7 Italia 2024.

The side event  will be held in Sala Onofri (at the Farnesina) next 29th Friday 2024 and it is entitled:

"The Impact of Artificial Intelligence in CBRN security".

Scope of the panel: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming CBRNe (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive) security, enhancing the ability to prevent, detect, and respond to potential threats. AI-driven tools improve threat assessment by analyzing large data sets from diverse sources, identifying patterns, and predicting high-risk scenarios. For detection, AI algorithms enable quicker and more precise identification of hazardous substances, often using real-time data from sensors, imagery, and other detection devices, thereby reducing response times and increasing situational awareness. AI also optimizes resource allocation and emergency response, simulating potential incident outcomes and enabling predictive decision-making. In post-incident scenarios, AI facilitates decontamination efforts and impact assessment, while machine learning models continuously improve by learning from new data, enhancing resilience, and adapting to emerging threats. Overall, AI's integration into CBRNe security not only enhances operational efficiency but also plays a critical role in safeguarding public health and national security by improving response precision and reducing human exposure to hazardous materials.

We are proud to have the chance to organize and do this activity in such a prestigious contest and to present some of the AI applications developed by our research group.
