Dear colleagues,
We are proud to share with you a piece of great news, we have organized and done today a side event at the Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction that will take place at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation the 27th - 29th of November 2024 in the aim of the activities of the G7 Italia 2024.
The side event was held in Sala Onofri (at the Farnesina). The title was:
"The Impact of Artificial Intelligence in CBRN security".
The International Master Courses in Protection Against CBRNe events was the organizing entity and also could participate as co-chair of the event (with Secretary Amedeo Amoretti and Lt. Col. Andrea Gloria from MAECI) with Prof. Andrea Malizia (Department of Biomedicine and Prevention).
Two experts, with totally different academic backgrounds but high experience in CBRNe, have been selected among the speakers:
- Prof. Pasquale Gaudio (M.Sc. in Physics, Ph.D. in Quantum Electronic and Plasma Physics), Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Rome Tor Vergata, with a talk on: "Drones and AI: the new frontiers of risk and security"
- Dr. Alba Iannotti (M.Sc. in International Law, Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering), Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Rome Tor Vergata, with a talk on: “Leveraging AI-enhanced game theory for strategic management of chemical weapons threats” prepared with Dr. Colomba Russo (M.Sc. in Political Science)
The two talks have been part of the talks delivered by experts from UNICRI, UNOCT, INTERPOL, and CNR.
The talks of Pasquale and Alba have been highly appreciated by the pool of experts animating an interesting Q&A and also the contribution of the University of Rome Tor Vergata is the demonstration that CBRNe safety and security has to be faced with multidisciplinary competences and approaches.
We are proud to have the chance to organize and do this activity in such a prestigious contest and to present some of the AI applications developed by our research group.
We want to thank Pasquale and Alba for the work and all the research groups working on that, special thanks to our AI experts Dr. Luca Martellucci (with us today as an attendee), Dr. Riccardo Rossi, and Alessandro Puleio.
STAY TUNED!
