
Dear Colleagues,
Last week, we successfully concluded Module 1 for the 9th Edition of the First Level Master CBRNe and the 14th Edition of the Second Level Master CBRNe.
We began with a Lectio Magistralis by Amb. Krzysztof Paturej (Poland), President of the International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security (ICCSS), who provided valuable insights on Crisis, War, and CBRNe.
This was followed by an introduction to CBRNe risks by Gen. B. Giorgio Guariglia (Italy), Commander of the NBC School of Rieti. The next two days featured an in-depth overview from Prof. Radova Karkalic (Serbia), Colonel in the Serbian Army and Full Professor at the Military University of Belgrade, alongside Dr. Dieter Rothbacher (Austria) from CBRNe Protection.
On Day 3, we started with Deputy Chief Esposito and his colleagues from the Italian State Police, followed by Dr. Shanin Modarres (Iran), Associate Researcher at LUISS University, who presented case studies and lessons learned. The afternoon focused on investigation techniques, led by Prof. David Crouch (UK) from Cranfield University.
On Day 4, Dr. Michael Ian Thornton (UK) emphasized the importance of Tabletop Exercises (TTX). Then, Major Daniele Del Gaudio (Italy) highlighted the crucial role of the 7th CBRNe Regiment Cremona in conducting CBRNe operations in the field. In the afternoon, Lt. Col. Andrea Gloria from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented a case study on the Beirut explosion, followed by Commander Gaetano Matrobe, who delivered an insightful lecture on the CBRNe capabilities and roles of the Italian Navy.
On Day 5 we concluded the module with Dr. Marco Carbonelli from the Italian Prime Minister’s Office, who discussed risk analysis methodologies.
This week, we continue with First Level Master students, focusing on Biological Risks.
